Are you looking forward to a long summer vacation? Can you read more books this summer than all your friends? Did you know that you can help children in India learn to read just by reading your favourite books?
The Pratham UK Readathon is a fundraiser that encourages children in the UK to read books over the summer to help children in India learn to read, write and do math.
Challenge yourself or a child you know to read more this summer, and raise funds to help educate children in India. It’s as simple as starting your own fundraising page on JustGiving and getting friends and family to donate for every book you read. Don’t forget to track your own progress, and see the total funds raised on the Readathon website!
The Readathon is aligned closely with the values that helped shape Pratham’s flagship programme, Read India, 10 years ago in 2007- improving read and math skills of young people in order to empower the next generation. This happens at each child’s individual pace, but is also a community effort in increasing standards of learning. Since our inception in 1994, Pratham has improved the lives of more than 45 million children. How many will YOU help?
If you don’t have time to read, you can still support the efforts of our wonderful Readers, or even mentor them on their journey.
