Ravi Rajagopal is currently leading a portfolio career after retiring from Diageo plc where he held many senior roles for a long period of time. He is currently the Chairman of Fortis Healthcare, India’s second largest listed healthcare company covering hospitals and diagnostics. Ravi is also an Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Vedanta Resources, UK. Vedanta Resources was a public listed entity until it de-listed from the London Stock Exchange in October 2018. Ravi is an Independent Director of Airtel Africa. He is Chairman of JM Financial, Singapore, a wholly owned subsidiary of JM Financial, a listed Indian entity. Until 2015, Ravi had a full time career working for two leading and very large consumer and brand marketing organisations. He started his career in ITC in India in 1979, where he held progressively senior roles across five different businesses. He moved to Diageo plc in 1996 and held a variety of senior roles. These included Group Controller for Diageo plc in the UK and business responsibility for the spirits business across sub-Saharan Africa. He was Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions until he retired in 2015. Ravi is also involved with various charitable activities. He is a Trustee of the Science Museum Foundation in the UK. He is Chair of an Advisory Board in India responsible for building and operating 4,000 childcare centres across northern India. He is a trustee of a group of four schools in India that teach over 1,100 underprivileged children free of cost. Ravi is a qualified Chartered and Cost Accountant and has attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
