New Hall School students raise over £6,000 for Pratham UK after being inspired by trip to India

Students from New Hall School in Essex have raised an incredible £6,900 for Pratham UK by organising a “Run for a Cause with Mrs Claus” race! The fundraising event was a whole school charity Santa run, (complete with snow!) to raise money for Pratham’s school programmes in India.

Students were inspired to organise the race after visiting India last year with the school’s Theology Department where they visited the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

After returning from India, students were determined to help children address skill gaps and continue their education by raising money through charity events, the first of which was the “Run for a Cause with Mrs Claus”.

Students got right into the festive spirit, donning inflatable Santa suits, hats and Christmas jumpers. Two fundraisers even braved the cold by running dressed in giant Christmas tree and gingerbread man costumes!

One year 12 student involved in the fundraising efforts shared: “On our recent trip to India we witnessed a lot of poverty and we were determined to do what little we could to help. Pratham seemed like the perfect charity to fundraise for and from there grew our ideas for ‘Run for a Cause with Mrs Claus’! Having received their Santa hats, the whole school ran with enthusiasm to the ‘North Pole’ where we provided hot chocolate, a Christmas DJ and even a snow machine! It was such a fun event and we loved seeing how our school community got behind our initiative!”

Delighted with the race’s success, students are now planning more fundraising events for children’s education in India in 2024.

Big thanks to New Hall School for supporting Pratham UK!
