Pratham UK delights charity supporters for a special evening with legend cricketer Sourav Ganguly

 

Pratham UK were delighted to host a special evening with Sourav Ganguly earlier last month for supporters at Lord’s Cricket Ground with legendary former cricketer, Sourav Ganguly.  

Sourav Ganguly, also known as “Dada,” is celebrated as one of India’s most successful cricket captains and one of the greatest left-handed batsmen in the history of Indian cricket.  

In addition to his outstanding cricket career, Sourav has been a strong advocate for education through his philanthropic commitments. Working towards providing educational opportunities for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through his charity, the Sourav Ganguly Foundation as well as supporting other education initiatives such as Pratham UK’s literacy foundational skills programmes for children in India.  

As well as being an exciting evening for fellow cricket enthusiasts, the event was a great opportunity to connect with many of Pratham UK’s fantastic supporters in person and raise more awareness on how the charity is changing lives through learning. 

During the evening, Pratham UK hosted a conversation with Sourav where guests were able to ask their burning questions about his career, his charitable work, future projectsand more.  

Guests were also able totake part in a live auction which raised an incredible £8,800 to sustain and grow Pratham’s incredible education programmes across India. 

The auction lots included various signed and framed cricket memorabilia, including a signed and framed Chelsea FC first team jersey, IND-PAK Category A Cricket World Cup tickets, 151st Golf Open Championship package and Fred’s signed Manchester United FC jersey (2022-23).   

Sakate Khaitan, Chairman of Pratham UK, said: “Sourav Ganguly’s contribution to Indian cricket, both as a player and an administrator, has left an indelible mark on the sport. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful captains in Indian cricket history and we were absolutely thrilled that he lent his support to help fundraise for Pratham’s school programmes in India. It was a fantastic event and great to see so many of our wonderful supporters at such a fun evening.”
