This campaign, which unites 24 other incredible charities working in the education advocacy space, has a shared vision to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education.

About the ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign
The ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign is a dynamic movement aimed at raising awareness and mobilising resources to support global education initiatives. By bringing together multiple charities, the campaign amplifies the collective impact, making a stronger case for the importance of education globally. Through advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement, this campaign strives to create a world where every child can attend school and receive a quality education.
Pratham UK’s role and commitment
At Pratham UK, our mission has always been to improve literacy and numeracy skills among underprivileged children in India. By joining the ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign, we are not only reinforcing our dedication to this cause but also leveraging the power of collaboration to enhance our impact. Together with our partners, we aim to address the barriers that prevent children from accessing education and provide the resources necessary for their academic success.
Enhancing literacy and numeracy in India
Our involvement in this campaign will directly support our innovative learning programmes such as, Teaching at the Right Level and Second Chance initiative as well as other ongoing educational work in India, where millions of children still lack basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Our flagship programme, Teaching at the Right Level, enables children (particularly those aged 9-10 and above) to become fluent readers and learn basic arithmetic in a period of just 30 to 50 days. This programme has been such a success that the learning model has been replicated on three continents. Whilst our Second Chance initiative for women and girls have already made significant strides in improving educational outcomes through
By participating in the ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign, we will be able to:

- Mobilise resources: Secure additional funding and resources to expand our programmes, enabling us to reach more children and improve the quality of education provided.
- Advocate for change: Advocate for policies and practices that prioritise education and address the systemic issues that hinder educational access in India.
- Foster collaboration: Strengthen our partnerships with other charities and organisations, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of our programmes.
A brighter future through education
Education is the key to unlocking a brighter future for children around the world. By joining the ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign, Pratham UK is taking a significant step forward in our mission to provide quality education to every child.
The international community has committed to ensuring inclusive and quality education for all by 2030. However, 262 million children are currently out of school, and for those that are in school many are not actually learning.
We believe that through collective effort, we can make a profound difference in the lives of underprivileged children, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed and thrive.
Together, we can ensure that every child is in school and learning well.
Rebekah Lucking, Head of the Send My Friend to School Campaign and Coalition, said: “We are delighted to welcome Pratham UK to the Send My Friend to School coalition. Their incredible and innovative work across India, brings a fantastic perspective to the coalition. We are looking forward to working together in our shared advocacy efforts, to ensure that every child, everywhere, is able to access a quality and inclusive education.”
