Pratham UK partners with premium, sustainable clothing brand, Yuniku London to empower young women through education and fashion

We are delighted to announce our exciting new partnership with Yuniku London, a remarkable sustainable fashion brand that shares our commitment to creating a positive impact! Yuniku London is dedicated to producing ethically sourced, environmentally conscious clothing, and together, we aim to make a meaningful difference for young women in India.
This partnership aligns perfectly with Pratham UK’s mission to bridge educational gaps and foster opportunities for economically disadvantaged communities. Through our collaboration, Yuniku London and Pratham UK are embarking on an inspiring initiative to support education and skill-building for young women through the launch of a stunning new Indian collection.
The collection is a celebration of India’s vibrant culture, featuring rich colours, intricate designs, and traditional motifs blended with contemporary styles. Each garment reflects not only the artistry of India but also the commitment to quality craftsmanship and sustainability.
What makes this partnership even more special is Yuniku London’s generous pledge to donate 10% of all proceeds from their clothing sales to support Pratham UK’s life-changing programmes. When you purchase any item from Yuniku London’s online store, you’re not only embracing exquisite fashion but also contributing to empowering young women with skills and opportunities that transform lives.
One such inspiring story is that of Shazima from Kanpur. Growing up in a family of eight siblings with limited means, her father’s low wages meant her elder sisters had to drop out of school to contribute to the family income. Shazima’s future might have followed the same path had it not been for Pratham’s industrial sewing machine operator course.
Excited about the opportunity, Shazima joined the course and encouraged her sisters to join as well. Together, they learned technical sewing skills and vital life skills, ultimately securing employment. Initially, they earned 8,500 rupees (approximately £80) each per month, enabling them to build a home for their family. Today, Shazima earns 18,000 (approximately £170) rupees monthly, supporting her younger siblings’ education and paving the way for a brighter future for her entire family.
Nick Sankey, Executive Director of Pratham UK, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership: “Our vision at Pratham UK is to equip young people in India with the skills needed to access livelihood opportunities. With 250 million young people in India entering the workforce in the next decade, but only 5% formally skilled, partnerships like this one with Yuniku London are invaluable. We’re thrilled to collaborate with them and deeply grateful to their customers for supporting our work.”
And every contribution makes a difference! Just £240 can train a woman at Pratham’s residential centre, while £40 provides training at our community camps. Whilst a donation of £100 equips a woman-led village business with entrepreneurial and financial skills.
Aparna Jain, Founder and Director of Yuniku London, added: “At Yuniku, we are passionate about designing fashion that is not only beautiful and sustainable but also impactful. We are proud to support Pratham UK and its efforts to provide young women in India with education and skills that lead to brighter futures through this partnership. With the artistry behind our collections and our collective drive to inspire positive change, we hope to continue empowering and uplifting communities, one garment and one story at a time.”
Together, we can empower communities in India, one garment at a time. Thank you for supporting this meaningful collaboration, let’s make this partnership a resounding success, visit Yuniku London’s online store!
